Second Port of Call - Labadee, Haiti (December 24, 2009)

Natalie's second stop was in Labadee, Haiti. It was her first taste of real warm weather. It was Natalie's first opportunity to experience the ocean up close. We landed near the beach and had to wade ashore. After a little time relaxing, Natalie spent some time learning how to play with the sand, using a small cup to make sand castles. While Natalie learned to love the sand, she was a little more skeptical about the water - she never really got comfortable with the waves splashing against her feet.

Later that day, we went on a cultural tour where we got to learn more about the Haitian people. Although Labadee is a private island, the people still live a very simple life there. Despite this however, everyone was very kind and gracious. We were especially touched when they sang us a French farewell song.
